We were established in 1919 and have been serving areas around Oxfordshire continuously since then.
Do you carry out repairs, maintenance and small works?
Yes, we do. All of our vehicles are equipped with a large stock of electrical replacement parts to allow us to complete any job quickly and efficiently.
Do you carry out larger contracts?
Indeed we do, and we'll be pleased to discuss your requirements and let you have a full written quotation.
Is your work guaranteed?
Of course! We are members of the premier organisation for certifying the quality of electrical installations and are subject to regular independent inspections.
Does my electrical Installation require testing?
Current electrical regulations recommend that domestic house wiring should be inspected and tested every 10 years.
How long does an test & inspection take & how much will it cost?
The time and cost to carry out the work depends on the size of the property, but usually will only take a few hours to complete, we will give you a fixed price to carry out the test and inspection and would then supply you with a quotation to carry out any remedial work, if required.
What is Part P?
The Part P requirement is that:
"Reasonable provision shall be made in the design and installation of electrical installations in order to protect persons operating, maintaining or altering the installations from fire or injury."
In short, electrical installations must be safe! Part P applies to fixed electrical installations in dwellings (including gardens and shared amenities in blocks of flats) and affects many of the typical jobs undertaken by electrical contractors, particularly work carried out in kitchens and bathrooms.
What do I need to comply with Part P?
To comply with Part P regulations you must register with a government approved scheme which allows the work to be self certified by an NICEIC Domestic or Approved Electrician, or you must inform the local authority so they can begin proceedings.
What is PAT Testing?
Pat testing or portable appliance testing is an important part of any health & safety policy.
The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances. The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment. This in effect requires the implementation of a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing. The Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) places such an obligation in the following circumstances:
- Where appliances are used by employees.
- Where the public may use appliances in establishments such as hospitals, schools, hotels, shops etc.
- Where appliances are supplied or hired.
- Where appliances are repaired or serviced.
The level of inspection and testing required is dependant upon the risk of the appliance becoming faulty, which is in turn dependant upon the type of appliance, the nature of its use and the environment in which it is used.
