Service and Maintenance

The safe maintenance of electrical installations and portable appliances is mandated by The Electricity at Work Regulations Act (1989 )and puts great responsibilities on companies, employers and employees to ensure that every safeguard is taken when using electricity at work.

All employers have legal obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 to ensure that electrical installations and equipment in places of work are safe.

Fire alarm, emergency lighting and security systems must also meet the approved requirements of insurance agencies and fire officers.

Electrical Installations should be regularly tested and inspected to British Standards BS7671: 1992 - IEE Wiring Regulations 16th Edition, at least every 5 years (10 years for new homes, Commercial installations from 1 year depending on usage).
